Welcome! Thanks for your interest in Saint Miriam School! We are excited to be serving the students, parents, staff and community associated with the Saint Miriam Parish & Friary and Saint Miriam School.
Saint Miriam School is a ministry of the Old Catholic Community of Saint Miriam Parish in Flourtown. We are a daycare and preschool offering a variety of classes for children ages 3 months through 5 years. We provide a structured curriculum beginning at age 2, with specials in Music & Movement, Language, Science & Math, and Service. We provide an intimate teacher to student ratio, promote active parent involvement, and provide faith formation opportunities!
Our vision is to foster wholeness, excitement, hope, and hospitality in a child-centered learning environment. As educators, we strive to guide each child to develop to his/her greatest potential. Our program is committed to aid in the growth and development of the whole child by way of individual and group interaction. Our job is to determine where your child is on the continuum and then to provide age appropriate learning experiences to stimulate growth. We recognize that all of these areas are important to the future success in learning and we want to give your child a positive start to his or her education.
Our education philosophy is that children learn best through play, while being inspired by nature on our nature playground and S.T.E.A.M.M. classroom with advanced technologies! We have the ability to transition your child to developmentally appropriate classrooms as they are ready which is unique to Saint Miriam School. We are blessed to be able to utilize our entire 12-acre campus during our school day! And our outdoor playgrounds create opportunities for creative and imaginative play.
Our staff is caring, courteous and kind, putting the needs of your child first each and every day. All teachers have up to date clearances, pediatric and adult first aid, and infant, pediatric and adult CPR. Yearly, each teacher takes a minimum of 12 hours of professional development to improve their knowledge and the quality of care and education practice. They are skilled at developing age appropriate activities that are engaging as well as educational.
From flexible days and hours to our S.T.E.A.M.M. programs to our safety protocols, we have designed a program that is unique to the area and will build excitement for future education in every child!
We invite you to take a tour and discover for yourself the ‘hidden gem’ in Flourtown!

Ms. Leigh Moran – School Director
Leigh Moran joins with a sense of humor, flexibility and over 25 years of extensive childcare experience. A graduate of Slippery Rock University, her first daycare job was as an aide while earning her Baccalaureate degree in Parks & Recreation.
Throughout her career, she has taught PreK 3 & 4 classes, toddlers and youth gym classes all while working in local preschools. During COVID, she was a pod teacher for local families, who were looking for much needed assistance in their home setting.
Leigh found her way to Saint Miriam School after COVID, where she first began as a floater, then as our PreK 4’s teacher. During this time, she was asked to continue her career as Co-Director along with Brother Sean.
Leigh’s favorite thing about working in childcare is seeing the daily changes as the children grow and develop in all aspects of life and successfully navigate the world around them. Weekly, Leigh is in a classroom reading, helping or just visiting and getting to know the children.
Leigh and her husband reside in Glenside with their three rescue cats. She is looking forward to being a first-time grandmother in the fall.
